How threadless (push-fit) jewellery works

Threadless jewellery has no screw thread at all. The decorative top ends in a very slightly bent pin; push the pin into the hollow labret post and the bend holds it under tension — secure to wear, but simple to change with clean, dry hands. Because only a smooth post passes through the piercing, threadless is the system many piercers now fit as standard, especially in ear cartilage and nostril work.

A premium range: solid gold and titanium

This is our premium fitting, and the materials reflect it: more than half the range is solid 14 karat gold — yellow, white and rose — alongside implant-grade titanium and surgical steel, with tops from $3.99. Posts are stocked mainly in 16g and 18g. Mix and match within the range: one well-fitted post can carry a rotation of gold and titanium tops.

Threadless FAQs

How does threadless jewellery stay in?

The top’s pin has a factory-set slight bend. Pushed into the hollow post, the bend presses against the inside wall and holds by tension. Fitted properly it is very secure — it takes a deliberate straight pull to remove.

How do I insert and remove threadless tops?

To fit: hold the disc end, line the pin up with the post and push straight in until the top sits flush. To remove: hold the post still and pull the top straight out — do not unscrew it, there is no thread. If the top feels loose, add a whisper more bend to the pin before refitting.

Are the gold pieces solid gold or plated?

Items listed as 14k gold in this range are solid gold — yellow, white or rose — not plating. Each product page states its material exactly; the Materials Guide explains the difference between solid gold and PVD-coated steel elsewhere on the store.

What size post do I need?

Match the gauge of your current jewellery — 16g and 18g cover most threadless piercings — and pick the post length your piercer fitted you with. A healed piercing usually wears a shorter post than a fresh one, so downsizing is normal once swelling is gone.

Can I wear a threadless top on my existing labret post?

Only if the post is a hollow threadless (push-fit) post — threaded posts are not compatible. If your current stud unscrews, you need one of the threadless posts from this range to wear these tops.
