Septum clickers, horseshoes and rings for healed septum piercings. Clickers hinge open and snap shut, so there is no fiddling with a tiny ball over a basin — which is why they have largely replaced captive beads for septum wear.

Most septum piercings are 16G (1.2mm) or 14G (1.6mm), and 8mm is the most-ordered diameter. Diameter is the measurement to check: too small pinches, too large hangs low and swings. Titanium and surgical steel both work well; retainers are in a separate category if you need the piercing to be discreet.

Choosing septum jewellery

Septum piercings give you more style choices than almost any other piercing: hinged clickers that snap closed in one motion, classic circular barbells (horseshoes), ball closure rings, and retainers that flip up inside the nose when you need the piercing out of sight. This range centres on 316L surgical steel from $3.99, with gold PVD, blackline, rose gold PVD and titanium finishes.

Septum sizing

Most septum piercings are done at 16g (1.2 mm), which is the bulk of this range, with 14g the common step up. Diameter decides how far the ring hangs below the nose — smaller sits tucked, larger makes a statement. If you are between sizes, match the internal diameter of a ring you already like. What gauge is a septum piercing?

16g (1.2 mm) is the most common piercing size and the size we stock most deeply; some people stretch to 14g or beyond. Buy the gauge you were pierced at unless your piercer has told you otherwise.

Clicker, horseshoe or ball closure ring — what is the difference?

A clicker has a hinged segment that snaps shut — the easiest to change one-handed. A circular barbell (horseshoe) holds with two screw-on balls and can be flipped up discreetly. A ball closure ring captures a bead under tension for the classic seamless look, but needs a firmer touch (or ring pliers) to open.

How do I hide a septum piercing?

Wear a septum retainer or flip a circular barbell up into the nose — both keep the piercing open while staying out of sight for work.

Can I wear these without a real piercing?

Yes — our fake septum rings clip onto the septum without any piercing, so you can trial the look first.

Why does my septum jewellery smell after a while?

That is normal build-up of skin oils, not a fault of the jewellery. Remove it periodically (once healed), wash the jewellery in warm soapy water, and clean the piercing as covered in our Aftercare Guide.
